I thought it was wonderful how Frank’s and Jason’s character development intersected and played off each other in HOH. At the same time Jason is realizing he doesn’t have to force himself to be a leader, Frank is growing into his heritage as one and both plotlines…
And it’s exactly the point Iris made in SON! Yeah there’s the prophesy, but that just makes what they do decide for themselves more important. What matters isn’t what path you choose so much as it does that it’s the path you chose to follow
Percy is so screwed when everyone gets home because he has a teacher for a stepfather, a brainiac for a girlfriend and he just missed 90% of the school year
They are not going to let him rest until he’s caught up
Literally the saddest part of the civil war starting in MOA was that Annabeth and Reyna were immediately like best friends and then they had to be enemies
I’d like to think Frank’s and Leo’s moms are best friends in Elysium and swap embarrassing baby stories and dirt on Mars and Hephaestus, jokingly argue about the love triangle their sons (were) in, and generally just miss their little boys together
Can we all just take a moment to appreciate that when Frank went to open the door for the officer who gave him his mother’s Sacrifice Metal, the first thought that went through his head was probably Mom’s home!
I thought it was wonderful how Frank’s and Jason’s character development intersected and played off each other in HOH. At the same time Jason is realizing he doesn’t have to force himself to be a leader, Frank is growing into his heritage as one and both plotlines culminate in the same moment of Jason giving Frank his praetorship. One takes off a burden he never needed as the other is ready to weather it. It’s lovely plot symmetry.
Mars and Ares screaming in Frank’s head explains something that had bothered me in MOA: When Piper exercised the Eidolons, Frank let Leo fall to the ground which seemed out of character for him. Sure he doesn’t like Leo but he’s not that malicious. Now it seems like it was because he wasn’t thinking straight with his headaches (plus Mars probably magically resisting him doing anything nice for “the enemy” in the first place)
Since Jason’s been at Camp Jupiter since he was a toddler I can only imagine Camp Jupiter once had a hyperactive three year old running under everyone’s legs at muster, knocking over spears in the armory, giving people random static shocks, driving the mess hall wind nymphs crazy with constant orders of little kid food like mac and cheese and juice boxes, and generally being the biggest nuisance in the world
